George Helms, a running back who starred at Lone Peak High School in Big Sky, has transferred from Elon to Montana State, MSU announced Monday.

He’s the first former Lone Peak Bighorn to join the Bobcats, according to MSU sports information.

“Dream come true,” Helms wrote in a quote tweet of MSU’s announcement. “Let’s work!!”

Helms tallied 10 yards on two carries in one game last season for Elon, which competes in the FCS with MSU (quarterback Matthew McKay transferred from MSU to Elon in 2022).

Helms lined up at RB, linebacker and kick returner for three seasons at 8-Man Lone Peak, where he earned an all-state selection. He spent his senior season at IMG Academy, a prep school in Florida renowned for its football program.

MSU officially announced four other previously publicized transfer additions Monday: RB Cale Breslin, QB Justin Lamson, wide receiver Chris Long and cornerback Bryson Parker.
